Madrigalejo participates in the liturgical acts with great devotion and popular participation. The processional steps are spectacular and the large number of people that accompany them, make these moments are lived with great emotion.
In addition to the usual processions, it is worth mentioning the famous “Carrerita”, the last procession of Holy Week, that of Easter Sunday. At dawn, the Virgin of the Rosary, which is carried by men, and the Risen Christ, which is carried by women, meet at dawn. This meeting takes place, as its name says, at the race, which is a widespread custom in the towns of the Guadiana. They are very exciting moments… the two figures run to meet each other in a wild way, the swaying of the sculptures is incessant, at times it seems that they are going to fall.
