MURALS
In 2018, as part of the “Muro Crítico” program of the Diputación de Cáceres, Sojo created the mural entitled “Éxodo” (Exodus). We can see it on the side facade of a house located on the road towards Zorita. “Exodus” is a call of attention to the depopulation suffered by the rural world in the last decades due to the lack of job opportunities, mainly among young people, which causes them a great uprooting.
This uprooting is manifested in the frustration of a young woman who holds her hands to her face, while two photographs representing her family appear multiplied on a black background. The pain of uprooting is evident in the contrast between the black and white past of his ancestors, which he has to turn his back on, and his youth, with all the future ahead of him, where the bright mustard shade of his sweater dominates.
