In March 2021, commissioned by the City Council, Sojo painted the mural Pañuelo de cien colores, as part of a space dedicated to the “Jueves de Comadres” festival.
MURAL HANDKERCHIEF OF A HUNDRED COLORS
Horses and typical handkerchiefs, rooted in tradition, shine in this celebration. For this reason, we find in this set a wrought iron sculpture of a horse, work of Machaco, and a gigantic handkerchief of a hundred colors.
The “pañuelo de cien colores” is a pressed wool garment that, due to its bright colors, is one of the most striking pieces of the regional costume of many villages in Extremadura. The mural is a huge handkerchief folded in a beak that unfolds all its colors on the facade, from the roof, and slides on both sides of the old gateway as if it were falling down a woman’s torso.
